Grain Crushings
Corn and other grain use for alcohol, milling and co-product production
What matters in the latest release
The numbers, changes and market implications worth knowing now.September corn demand for alcohol and other uses fell to 485 million bushels, down 8% from August but up 1% from September 2025, with the shorter month containing 30 days versus 31 in August. Fuel alcohol accounted for 438.423 million bushels, down 9% from August but up 1% year over year, while beverage-alcohol use dropped to 3.110 million bushels, down 6% month to month and 15% from a year earlier. The mix remained heavily weighted to ethanol, with 92.2% of fuel-production corn going to dry mills and 7.8% to wet mills, a measure relevant to regional corn demand and coproduct availability. Dry-mill DDGS output declined to 1.699 million tons from 1.843 million in August, down 8% and less than 1% below September 2025, while high-moisture DWG rose 1% month to month and 7% year over year to 1.301 million tons. Wet-mill output was mixed: corn gluten feed fell 6% from August and 5% year over year to 261,235 tons, but wet corn gluten feed reached 187,600 tons, up 4% and 14%, respectively. These shifts matter for ethanol margins, feedstock buying and the near-term balance of DDGS and wet-feed supplies.
